Benfica is a legendary club in Portugal. The fact that it won 31Portuguese Liga, 27 Portuguese Cup, 2 Uefa Champions League trophies and 1 Uefa Cup, says everything about the history and fame of this club. But it needs to change its policy regarding football players and the team itself. If they are to reach again the final stages of European competitions,
the players must do way better. Lets consider their latest game played against Leixoies. Benfica opened the score thanks to a brilliant pass received by Cardozo in the 32nd minute of the match, who took over the ball and defeated the keeper with a powerfull shot next to the left post. But this was not enough to win. Leixoes won a corner down the left late in the game, in the 88th minute. Host’s number 10, Wesley manages to head the ball toward the net, scoring an unxepected goal. The keeper had no reaction. what so ever. This draw sent Benfica on the 5th place on the Portuguese league table.
