Real Madrid proved once again that when it has a sparring partner on the other side of the pitch, it does show no mercy. The score: 7-1 says everything. The 1st goal scored by the new commer Van der Vaart, was the result of a beautiful team effort. Three passes were enough to get the ball to the Dutch midfielder who scored with a powerful shot in the keeper’s left side.
The rest is history. The second goal was a Van der Vaart’s trademark. Low pass in the area and a simple and elegant heel touch was enough to score. Robben created the third goal of the game, down the left, with the defensive midfielder Higuain being the man who last touch the ball.
In the second half Van der Vaart does the hattrickwith a low shot from the edge of the area. Next, Van der Vaart gives a great assist to Robben – a pass through 2 defenders – who dribbles the keeper and scores in the empty net. The living legend, Raul marked the 6th one after a great play created by Robben who’s strong shot hit the post. Raul creates also the next interesting play of the game, scoring with an ellegant lobe over the keeper.
